Distracted drivers at Avenue Rd. & Davenport
Toronto police officer stops 3 distracted drivers — all on their cellphones — at the same time.On Monday afternoon, Toronto police officer Kirk Papadopoulos was parked on a curbside near Avenue Road and Davenport Road in his unmarked car when he stopped three distracted drivers within the span of about 30 seconds.
ABCRA responds to City on Noise Bylaw Review
ABCRA has participated in many iterations of the Noise By-Law review, and was a member of the Noise Working Group (“NWG”) process and has attended all meetings in the lead up to the 2019 Noise By-Law review. The livability of the City is being eroded by excessive unrestricted noise and a lack of enforcement for the rules that we do have.

I hope you are enjoying the beautiful fall weather as much as I am. Thank you to everyone who helps to look after Toronto school children returning to school, including teachers, cleaners, cooks, bus drivers, and crossing guards. We know there have been rough spots with the new crossing guard contract, and have been promised that they are being fixed.
Toronto is getting a new bridge and the designs are stunning
The public got its first taste of Toronto’s planned Keating Channel Pedestrian Bridge design competition last week when a group of five shortlisted concepts were presented, revealing some impressive possibilities for the new pedestrian link. The link between the city’s Quayside district and the new system of parks, public spaces, and future development lands is a key element in the area’s connectivity plan.
Ready, set, plant! City of Toronto opens applications for its PollinateTO Grants
Applications are now open for the City of Toronto’s PollinateTO Grants program. Through the program, the City offers grants of up to $5,000 to support community-led initiatives that result in the creation or expansion of pollinator habitat on public and private lands in Toronto. A priority will be placed on funding projects in Toronto’s Neighbourhood Improvement Areas.
City of Toronto to launch a pothole and bike lane repair blitz
Tomorrow, the City of Toronto will begin this year’s sixth pothole repair blitz to keep the City’s expressways, major roads and neighbourhood streets in a state of good repair. City crews will work a 12-hour shift, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., to repair as many potholes as possible.

Notice of Public Consultations: Implementation Review of the Noise Bylaw
The Noise Bylaw provides standards for noise, and applies to all properties in Toronto. The 2023 Implementation Review of the Noise Bylaw will assess amendments made to the Bylaw in 2019 and consider potential refinements.

On January 11, 2024, we all can share our noise stories with the Infrastructure and Environment Committee. There are several online meetings posted on Eventbrite for you to learn more and get ready to make a difference.
New Year’s Eve Fireworks
Ring in 2024 with fireworks at midnight, visible from anywhere with a view of Toronto’s inner harbour. Some free activities are available leading up to the fireworks at these locations along Toronto’s downtown waterfront:
Cavalcade of Lights
It’s “bright lights, big city” at this annual event that marks the official start to Toronto’s holiday season. The family-friendly Cavalcade of Lights celebration at Nathan Phillips Square features the lighting of Toronto’s 15 m (50 ft) Christmas tree, live musical performances, ice skating and more. – November 25, 2023 to January 7, 2024
Toronto Noise By-law Review
Many of you will have attended one of more of the City’s September Consultation session on changes to the Noise Bylaw. October 15, 2023 is the deadline for sending your comments to the City.
City of Toronto to host Small Business Forum
The City of Toronto will host a Small Business Forum on Monday, October 30 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. This free, full-day, in-person event supports Toronto small businesses by providing them with access to information, connections and resources to build and grow their enterprises.
